Dogwood Farm Estate

New site plan, road system, landscaping and infrastructure to the existing 132 acre Roxbury Connecticut estate. The project included doubling the size of the main residence to 12,000sf, a new garage structure, a new artist studio fabricated from shipping containers, a new maintenance facility, a new treehouse structure and interior renovation to the existing poolhouse, guest house, caretakers house, caretakers barn and game barn.

Beach House

A new shingle style beach house sited at the top of a steep bluff with commanding views of both Port Jefferson and Setauket Harbors. The house was located within the footprint of the previously demolished home to preserve the proximity to the bluff. The total finished living space of 5,700sf includes four bedrooms, four and a half baths, entry foyer, living room, dining room, kitchen, library and family room spaces. The design also features outdoor living spaces including a bluestone terrace with pergola and trellis, four covered balconies, an herb garden and a grandfathered and restored access stairway, with viewing platforms down the bluff to a renovated breakwater and dock.

KEY TASKS:
Designing a vernacular style home while concealing state of the art smart home and sustainable design features. The house includes a passive solar design, high output solar panels located outside viewing angles, a two well open loop geothermal system, and a super insulated envelope employing medium density urethane foam. The geothermal system and solar system combine to create a near zero energy use home. Maximizing views to the water was enabled by a ground floor plan layout that employed a series of connected rooms, all open to each other through over-sized elliptical arches, allowing multiple panoramic views from each space.

Woodcrest Estate

Complete renovation and restoration of an existing turn of the century north shore long island estate including the existing four story shingle style main house originally erected in 1898, the existing three story post and beam barn, the care-takers cottage, driveway system, utilities and services, gardens and grounds. The interior of the house is primarily detailed with restored 19th century painted wood and plaster moldings, stenciled wood floors and stairways and stained oversized mahogany doors. The new AV unit in the Living Room, as well as other new elements were designed to complement the existing historic detailing. In contrast, the new kitchen wing of the house on the ground floor was designed in cherrywood adirondack style.

KEY TASKS:
Retaining as much of the main house historic frame and decorative detailing as possible while updating and upgrading the structure, the envelope, mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems. Replanning the servants quarters wing that was broken up into multiple small spaces into a master bedroom suite on the second floor, and kitchen, breakfast room and mud room on the ground floor. Re-envisioning the attic space into a play area and bunk room with light directing cupolas and roof access to a new widows walk structure for star gazing.

Meadowlands Estate

Complete estate modernization and expansion including a tear down and rebuilding and re-envisioning of the existing 9,500sf 3 story main house, new caretakers cottage, new poolhouse and pool, new 3 car garage facility and apartment, new tennis court and new gardens, landscaping and roadway system.
