R. Wade Johnson, AIA LEED AP

Fostering of the arts by his family led to his own personal world travels, and exploration of art, architecture and design.  Mr. Johnson pursued his education in architecture at Columbia (BS) and Yale (M. Arch) Universities.  Upon graduation, he relocated to New York City to join Buttrick White and Burtis, spending five years honing his skills on institutional and commercial projects.  Subsequently Mr. Johnson worked with David Rockwell heading up his own studio and assisting Mr. Rockwell with opening and expanding his renowned hospitality design group from 1990 to 2000.

In 2000, Mr Johnson’s experience and passion for architecture and interior design motivated him to open the doors of R. Wade Johnson Design PLLC immediately starting work on two new hotel projects, multiple projects at Jones Beach Theater and a Planet Hollywood renovation in Toronto, Canada.

Mr. Johnson spearheaded a rebranding of his firm in 2021 to reflect the evolving firm’s culture and the ever-changing industry landscape.  Mr. Johnson continues to ensure he takes the time to mentor all team members while providing leadership and direction on each project.

His accolades include numerous awards, and publications. He is also recognized by the legal profession as an expert witness, providing support for architectural and construction litigation, mediation and arbitration. In his free time Mr. Johnson pursues his interests in landscaping, song writing and perfecting his acoustic guitar playing skills.
